Week of October 3, 2016

Dear Parents of Secondary School,

On Monday afternoons I will be emailing a brief update of the happenings in Secondary School. The purpose of this site is to ensure that the parent community of Secondary School are well informed. Please know that the most comprehensive listing of events will continue to be the ISY website.
  • Quarter 1 Report Cards and MAP Data
    • The first academic quarter of the 2016-2017 school year has come to a close. Quarter one report cards and MAP data will be available through INSIS on October 5, 2016. Once the reports are posted, the Secondary Office will send an email to all secondary school families.
    • As you review your child’s report card, please note that the quarter one report card grade is derived from a narrow amount of data due to the short length of the term.
  • Parent -Teacher - Conferences
    • If you do not have an appointments, please sign up for conferences ASAP through INSIS. Conferences will take place on Thursday from 12:00-7:00 PM and Friday 11:00-5:00 PM. Please see below to ensure you are well prepared for your meetings.
  • Parent - Teacher - Conferences Preparation
    • Students are encouraged to attend the meetings. They will be able to help parents navigate from classroom to classroom and can provide insight into their performance.
    • Have access to your INSIS conference schedule, as it will list meeting times, teacher names, and locations.
    • Please be sure to be on time for your scheduled meeting. Each conference will be 10 minutes in length.
    • If you arrive early to the conference, please wait and knock when it is your turn for the conference.
    • Wear comfortable shoes, as you will discover just how many stairs your child walks in a day.
  • Middle School Travel
    • ISY's travel guidelines for Middle School have been revised. As a result, Middle School international trips will be self-funded. This means that the amount charged to students will include, flights, hotels and registration fees for student participants and chaperones.
      • Events with ten or more students will be supervised by ISY faculty.
      • One ISY faculty plus another community adult will supervise events that involve between four and nine students.
      • Events with three or less students will not be considered a school event. ISY supports parents who chose to take students to the event.
